Transesophageal Echocardiogram

A test using ultrasound waves to assess heart structure and function by placing the transducer down the esophagus.

An Echocardiogram is a test that produces images of your heart, which gives your doctor a better idea of your overall heart health. The Transducer is placed down your Esophagus (the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach), and travels through your neck and chest to identify any abnormalities that your heart muscles or valves may have.

This test is administered at the Foothills and Rockyview Hospital. If this test is required, you will receive specific preparation information and directions.
