FAQs
Where is C-era located?
C-era is located just south of Downtown in the old Holy Cross complex in Calgary's southwest. See our Contact page for a map and driving directions.
What do I need to bring?
For your first visit to C-era, you need to bring your Alberta Health Care and your medications or an accurate list of your medications (doses and strengths). If English is not your strength, please bring an interpreter with you.
Will I be doing a treadmill test on my first visit to C-era?
Not usually, but it is best to wear two-piece clothing and comfortable shoes anyway. Ladies, please no pantyhose or dresses.
Is there any testing on my first visit?
You will have an electrocardiogram (ECG, heart tracing) test and have your blood pressure checked. As well, your height, weight and waist measurements will be taken.
How long will I be at C-era?
Consultations and treadmill tests are about an hour each. If you return to C-era for further testing such as a nuclear scan each appointment will take about two hours.
Can I eat before I come? Can I take my medications?
Yes. There is no special preparation for your first visit. If you are required to return for further testing, you will receive the preparation pamphlet that outlines any special preparation.
Do I have to pay for anything at C-era?
No. C-era is a private clinic, but all services are covered by Alberta Health Care. However, Quebec residents must pay cash and seek reimbursement from their provincial health care. You will need cash for parking ($1.50 per 1/2 hour to a max of $15.00). There is an ATM in the pharmacy on-site.
Does my family doctor know what happens to me at C-era?
Yes. Your family doctor receives the results of all consultations, testing and follow-up appointments.
How do I get my test results?
Your C-era physician will follow up on your test results directly with you, usually within 10 days to two weeks. If there is a highly abnormal test, you will be contacted immediately.
Do I need a referral to see a C-era physician?
Yes. You must be referred by either your family doctor or a physician in the Emergency Room or Clinic.
Are there any side effects to any test I will have at C-era? Should I bring someone to drive me home?
No. You shouldn't experience any side effects to testing done at C-era. You'll be fine to drive home.
